About

bobHello, I’m Bob Reehm.

I was born in Joplin, Mo. the 4th of 5 children. After my folks divorced and my father remarried, we settled in Bentonville, AR., (home of Walmart…Sam Walton was my youth group leader at the Presbyterian church there.) Having been raised in the church I had an excellent foundation that prepared me to become a believer which happened in 1970, in my senior year of high school. The Viet Nam war was in full swing, the country was torn with the morality of fighting and I too was experiencing inner conflict. I had made it my goal since the 8th grade to attend the Naval Academy, and now I was having doubts about the rightness of going into the military. During my struggles someone shared Jer. 29:11: “I know the plans that I have for you says the Lord, plans for peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.” The Lord used that verse to draw me to Himself. If God had plans for my life I wanted to know what they were, and to follow them.

I received an appointment to attend the Academy and while there met the Navigators. It had been over a year since I had become a Christian. I had not grown spiritually during that time. The Navigators I met spent time with me, taught me the importance of Bible reading, how to pray, share my faith, the importance of fellowship with other believers; in essence, they followed me up and saw to it that I became established in my faith. After teaching me how to walk with God, they taught me how to repeat the process with others; how to follow up someone else. This methodology is found in 2 Tim 2:2; “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

After graduation in 1974 with a B.S. in Chemistry, I attended a year of graduate training in Nuclear Engineering and was then assigned to the Reactor Dept. of my first ship, the USS Enterprise, home-ported in Alameda, Ca. While on that ship God allowed me to have a part in the spiritual development of 3 young sailors and l led Bible study with over 40 sailors in attendance. After 27 months on the Enterprise, I was transferred to the USS Bainbridge, a nuclear powered cruiser home-ported in San Diego. I served as the D.C. A. (Damage Control Assistant) responsible for training the 560 member crew in fire fighting, flooding control and in ship repairs. While on that ship God called me out of the Navy. In my daily devotional time He spoke through two passages of scripture: Isa. 55:2 “Why do you spend your labor for that which does not satisfy?” and through John 6:27: “Do not labor for the food that perishes but labor for the food that endures to eternal life, which the son of Man will give to you.” I felt God calling me to leave my career in the Navy, and to pursue the making of disciples with the Navigators as my life work.

While serving on board the Bainbridge, I met my future wife, Charla, who was attending a Navigator Nurse’s Bible study. Char had trusted Christ in her senior year of Nursing school at Ft. Hays St. U. in Western Kansas. We were married in 1980.

Our first assignment with the Navigators was in Coronado, Ca. ministering at the Naval Amphibious Base. It was there that our first child, Jason, was born. After two years we were transferred to work with the military in the San Francisco Bay area (10 bases in the area) where we labored for 6 years. During that time we ran a Serviceman’s center out of our home where Char fed over 100 extra meals/month out of our kitchen. God blessed us with much fruit, both spiritually and physically. Our two daughters, Jan and Jami were born during out time living in Alameda. Now since 1989, we have been laboring in the Monterey Peninsula at the three military bases: Ft. Ord (now closed), the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS). In 2002, I was asked to take the position of “Field Leader” of the Ca. Military Ministries, providing oversight for all the Navigator Staff who minister to the military. In 2009, I resigned from the Field Leader role to devote full time energies to our local ministry and to help me get free from the chains of pornography.

I wrote the book “The War Within…..Gaining Victory in the Battle for Sexual Purity” over an 8 year period. It is very auto-biographical, detailing my struggles with pornography. I first looked at porn when I was 10 years old, and immediately became consumed with it. This book traces the key turning points and lessons learned in God’s instruction to me to turn away from porn and toward victory on the road to purity. It was published in 1997 by Crossway Books under the pen name Robert Daniels to protect my adolescent kids from embarrassment. My real name is Robert Daniel Reehm, hence the pen name. God has greatly blessed the effort. In 1998 it won “Best Seller” by Amazon.com book under the category of Christian Counseling and it was #2 in the same category in 1999. Additionally, I have been interviewed and spoken nationally on over 500 radio broadcasts since the book’s release. In 2005, a Revised book, “The War Within…” was released, again with Crossway Books as the Publisher under the same pen name. I’ve had the opportunity to speak at numerous conferences, churches, and men’s groups both in America and abroad. I am available, eager and willing to travel and minister in this area.

Over the years, the Lord has refined my vision and calling. In Luke 22:31, Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has desire to have you to sift you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you that your faith should not fail. And when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen the faith of your brothers.” My goal is to strengthen the faith of my brothers and sisters as they battle impurity and pornography. The Lord further clarified this in Psa 40:1-3. “I waited patiently for the Lord. He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, (pornography), out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” My desire is to proclaim the goodness, graciousness, love and faithfulness of God to a generation that is trapped and held captive to sexual sin. Psa 40: 9,10 says, “I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation. Lo, I have not restrained my lips as Thou knowest O Lord, I have not hid Thy saving help within my heart. I have spoken of Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation in the great congregation. I have not concealed Thy steadfast love and faithfulness from the great congregation.” This is the desire of my heart. I want to evangelistically proclaim the steadfast love and faithfulness of God, in hopes that ‘many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”

I have been on full time staff with the Navigators for since 1982.

In the mid 90’s I met Lonnie Berger and we discussed the need to had a Book 4 to the Every Man a Warrior series that Lonnie had written.  It took 6 years of work and 6 re-writes, then a year of Beta testing before Every Man a Pure Warrior (EMAPW), Book 4 was published.  It has now been translated into numerous languages and has groups now going in multiple countries.

We want men to complete the first three book of the EMAW series BEFORE tackling Book 4.  Book 4 requires more work and discipline than the first three books.  We WANT men to succeed in overcoming the enslavement of pornography and other sins that grip a person’s soul such as anger, bitterness, anxiety, fear, and other worldly things that enslave and ensnare us.  Book 4, when properly completed and done in company with other committed me who have memorized the assigned verses and completed the WORK, have seen an 80%+ success rate in overcoming enslavement to porn.  Praise God!
